Scene Beat Hits Up Club Flesh
Moist bodies move under throbbing lights; delicious pale skin mingles with glistening brown bodies on the dance floor. Industrial artist Mordacious raises a mic and yells venomous lyrics with perfect clarity, backed by a gas-masked DJ shaking the room to an electronic rhythm. It's the first Saturday night of the month in Fresno, California, and that means Club Flesh.
Celebrating its one year anniversary in July of 2011, Club Flesh has been going strong for nearly a year and half. As a service to the fetish and darker music community, the price is usually $5 for entrance
Lord Rudy is a successful local business owner and creator of the recurring Industrial fetish dance club. When asked of his vision for the event, he described it as a "magically created neutral ground for all groups -- goth, punk or cyberkids." This enigmatic and esoteric background seems understandable as one arrives in the venue; you experience the sensuous feeling of unadulterated, somewhat Bacchanal freedom. Lord Rudy explains: "when you come in, you know it was imbued and created with elements of power, flesh and actual sexual energy. You see it in the dance floors and feel it in the corners of the club." To affirm from my visits, the eye candy on the floor and the lure of the dark pathways affirms his statement. The air is seductive, the crowd magnetic.
The local crowd agrees that Club Flesh has many accomplishments. Perhaps the greatest is that politics and drama between various factions and clicks is left at the door, assuring everyone comes together to celebrate. The shallow judgments that often occur elsewhere are also removed at the entrance. Morbid Sekt, a scene regular, celebrated her birthday at October's event. Surrounded by friends and lots of kind attention, she said, "It's nice to go to a club and not be judged on how you look, so anyone feels welcome." The dance floor during the amazing Mordacious performance ranged from the most stunningly dressed to couples in street clothes. This tolerance is common at Flesh, making the occasional and out-of-town guests feel welcome.
Regarding expressive sexual behavior, the organizer assures us that Flesh is more than kink-friendly and open play is fine. Observing the more stringent laws of Central California does require that female nipples are covered and below the waist nudity avoided. Aside from that, fun is everywhere. Bondage equipment is sometimes provided by local business My Dungeon Gear. When asked about future vision in the area of physical enjoyment, Lord Rudy detailed the ambition of planned private play space for more intimate and satisfying encounters.
A spacious outdoor patio, special events and unique themes grace this hidden treasure of pleasure, and Mordacious is the first milestone of signed, recognizable music label performers ahead. Shorten the skirts, take off your shirts and enter the heat of the Central Valley. You will leave aroused, lathered and blissfully tired – a true club experience.
